Meet Our Team
As a family run business, Porthleven Holidays has grown from strength to strength, and we are proud of our portfolio of wonderful holiday cottages and apartments overlooking the sea, in this unspoilt Cornish fishing village. All are individually owned and therefore each has its own unique character. This also means that we are privileged to work with wonderful, and very diverse cottage and apartment owners, who are always very supportive. They want their guests to have the best holiday possible and are always keen for feedback.
Porthleven has always been my favourite place in Cornwall, so I have been extremely lucky to run a business based here. Now, after nine years, my sons Alex and Josh have joined in and I'm delighted to say that the future for Porthleven Holidays is extremely bright. We moved our offices in September 2011 to larger premises in nearby Helston – only five minutes drive from Porthleven. The business has also been rejuvenated with the advent of our new website, now taking online bookings for all our cottages and apartments, and many more things are planned for the future. Our personal service for our holiday makers, which we so enjoy, remains our priority.
Marketing and PR
Having joined the business in 2011, I am delighted to be part of our new-look Porthleven Holidays, and hope that I can make the most of the opportunity to encourage others to share in this uniquely beautiful Cornish fishing village. Having studied BA Graphic Communications at Bath Spa University and then travelled around Australia, I am excited to take on a challenge a little closer to home and heart. As well as running the office day-to-day I will be focusing on raising the profile of Porthleven Holidays even more.
I have been a part of Portheven Holidays for eleven years and have been very fortunate in being able to work in this lovely old fishing village. Over the years numerous friendships have been formed with our cottage owners and holiday makers. Having come to live in Cornwall as a child, we were introduced to Porthleven by my father where we spent many happy times walking the coastal footpaths along to Loe Bar before returning to the village for a a lovely Cornish afternoon tea.
I joined the business as a partner in 2010 and have enjoyed meeting many of our holiday cottage guests. I work in the office when needed and spend much of my spare time in Porthleven as I love everything to do with the ocean. I am a BSc Marine Biology graduate. In October 2011 I am off to Eastern Australia for a few months to work as a Jackaroo on cattle ranches – I am certainly going to miss the sea!
Outside the Office
So what are our favourite things to do in and around Porthleven?
"Walking my dogs on the cliffpath to Loe Pool, sitting outside Nauti But Ice with an ice cream, eating out at one of Porthleven's great restaurants and sitting by the harbour watching the world go by." – Muriel
"Proper Cornish pasties from one of the village bakeries, visiting Porthleven's arts and crafts galleries and shops and barbecuing on the beach." – Josh
"Fishing trips on Danda or Starfish, run by Porthleven Angling Centre, at the Harbour Head, fishing off the pier, scuba diving with Silver Dolphin Centre in Penzance and watching the dolphins and seals off the beach whenever they appear." – Alex
"Perusing the arts and crafts stalls for their beautiful jewellery and clothing and delicious homemade foods. Being a keen art enthusiast, I love visiting the galleries in Porthleven." – Robin
